Baymont Inn Cortez is now the grande dame of Cortez hotels, with recent improvements, the property has matured into a classic.
Comfort is what I look for in a hotel, someplace that feels like home, but a little nicer. The Baymont Inn Cortez is right up my alley, a very nice hotel, but not too stuffy. Sort of like staying with a rich aunt, who doesn’t like to flaunt it (much).
The hotel has 150 rooms (20 adjoining), plus 40 one bedroom suites. An indoor pool that is heated to 90 degrees’ year round and a hot tub, both situated in a delightful three story atrium with tons of plants. Just off the pool area is a workout room with a treadmill, stationary bike, and machine weights. Each floor has two guest laundry rooms, and there is a beautiful patio where guests can enjoy a view of the Southern Bluffs and Sleeping Ute Mountain.
I toured a King guestroom, that had a 39” flatscreen TV, a kitchenette, with granite counter tops, microwave, refrigerator and coffeemaker, and of course the crown jewel of the room, the Westin Heavenly Bed with triple sheeting and beautiful new headboards. If you haven’t stayed at the Baymont Inn recently, you haven’t stayed here at all! The bathroom was well equipped and also had granite countertops.
If you are looking for a good deal on their already reasonable rates, AAA, AARP members get a 10% discount and active duty military and veterans get a 20% discount! For those who don’t qualify for any of these discounts, don’t fret, the Baymont Inn also participates in the mystery hotel bidding sites like Hotwire and Priceline.
Smokers will have to go outside to smoke, but the hotel is cannabis friendly (outside, away from children, be discrete please and stay on hotel property), the property offers guests free wifi, basic cable from TDS cable, and a free business center.
Busses and tours are welcome, contact group sales at (970) 565-3400… pets are welcome as well, for a ten dollar fee (cats included).
The hotel has employees who are fluent in Navajo and Spanish and some French.
I would book this hotel in a second, it looked like a nice, peaceful, well equipped property with comfortable rooms and a nice view. It is located on the east side of Cortez and is walking distance from a liquor store, Walmart, Bealls, the Beacon recreational marijuana shop, Destinations Grill, Dennys, Kentucky Fried Chicken and two convenience stores.
Direct any concerns Brian Bartlett the general manager during your stay, he is a great service oriented manager and will make sure you have a great stay! He really welcomed us in and gave us a great tour!
The Baymont Inn Cortez is a winner… it’s not the Waldorf Astoria, but hey, for Cortez this place gets five stars!
